Watch daredevil goats defying gravity
With split hooves and rubber-like soles, the Alpine ibex is able to climb a near-vertical rock face.2017
But have you ever seen goats climb trees? In Morrocco, this is a very common occurrence. In and around the Atlas Mountains, though, grazing pastures are patchy — here and there. So, goats have learned to make the best of anything they could get their adorable hoofs and snouts on, even if that means being perched high up in the trees. This is not only nice for goats but for the trees themselves too. Goats in Southern Morrocco will often climb foot-trees in search for food, in this case, acorn-sized argan seeds.
Alpine ibex make scaling the near vertical wall of an Italian dam look like child's play. Wild goats are well known for their climbing abilities but in northern Italy, Alpine ibex are leaving the competition behind. High up in the mountains sits a man-made dam and at more than ft 30m it is taller than a block of flats. But on its near vertical walls up to 20 ibex can be found walking and occasionally licking the masonry. Even more surprisingly, those animals that take part in the death-defying stunt are always mothers and their young, with larger males nowhere to be seen. Ibex seem to go to such lengths simply to compensate for their salt-deficient vegetarian diets, as the concrete provides them with an unconventional salt lick.
The death-defying goats make clinging on look easy. Lori Loughlin and husband land in LA after Boston court appearance. Couple fends off mother bear that broke inside their Colorado home. Peter Andre entertains festival crowd before saving pregnant woman. Thousands of revellers hurl tonnes of tomatoes at Spanish festival. Fire crews attend a suspected gas leak near the Cadbury factory. Sarah Jessica Parker enjoys a night out with Matthew Broderick.
